    Hi Bros,

I have an established 5ft cichlids tank. It has no background mounted on it.

I plan to use PVC foam (black) and paste it to the back as it is easier as the tank is placed against the all. It will be to difficult to tear the tank down to paste vinyl or 3D background.

Have any Bros tried this? Any advice or suggestions. Appreciate your feedback.

    Thanks.

    Paul Low

If you are just using the PVC foam sheet and sticking it to the outside back of the tank, then there shouldn't be any issue, can use double-sided tape to attach it on if you plan to change it out in the future.

I've seen some people use large opaque plastic sheets to do the same thing too, just stuck on with tape, can even bend the sheets and create a gradated color, like the blue "horizon" effect in aquascape photos.

Hi UA, thanks for your reply. I will try this next weekend and post the result. I will be installing my LED lights too. Cheers.

Can also consider those plastic sheets sold at popular. They come in other colours too and found around the art and craft corner.

    Hi Goalkeeper,

Thanks for your suggestion. Question- are these plastic sheets transparent or opaque? Hard or soft type? And what size? I know I'm asking alot but any information would be helpful. Cheers.

Paul, they are quite soft....can cut with a scissor and opaque. Think the biggest size I bought is only 75x60 cm and I need cut/tape to get to my 3 feet tank size. See the attached picture...sorry not very well taken.

Hi Goalkeeper, thanks for your info. Very helpful. Based on your measurements given, I would need 2 sheets of it for my tank. Many thanks bro. Appreciate it.

You are welcome Paul. I noticed the measurements differ a bit depending on the stock. If you want to be sure, you can use the measuring tape they are selling there to take measurements on the spot before buying.
