As a beginner, after dealing with algae, now comes part 2... the bugs!

I narrowed this down to either the freshwater limpet, or the copepod. Anyone wants to make a guess?

After doing more research, looks like a limpet for sure.

I read that they dont cause any harm or danger to CRS, just an eyesore. Anyone has any personal experience trying to get rid of them, and do they really not pose any problems to the shrimps?

Yeah, limpets are much smaller... that looks more like a pond snail, can see the mouth and eye stalks. They are harmless but can be unsightly in large numbers.

Just use a pincette and crush it, then feed to your shrimps, its free calcium-rich food.

Don't worry... they will pop up again on the tank glass (and probably grown abit bigger), just have a pair of pincettes ready to prepare fresh snail cuisine for the shrimps.

One just popped up! Got real excited and tried using the pincers i use for planting... needless to say... the snail dropped from the glass and disappeared into the substrate. Gotta try again...

This is a real long shot. But I don't have a proper camera for macro shots... But anyone can id this? It's really tiny, mainly whitish/transparent with sort of a head and a tail.

Moves in a jerky motion, mostly on tank glass. No I don't think it's a shrimplet lol

Based on your description and if they swim in a jerky motion, those should be copepods.

Was wondering if they were Copepods based on what I googled. Thanks for confirming my guess!

They are really way too tiny to properly ID, guess it's time to get a magnifying glass

Yeah, its quite interesting to magnify and see the micro-critters living in the tank, especially inside the substrate... since fishes and shrimps can't reach them, there is a thriving world of assorted creatures in there.
