I'm trying the Neo gene.
I read that Fire Red is one of it. The colour is better than Cherry, so I gave it a try. Never knew that it's so sensitive.
I chose Sunkist because i thought it is Neo gene too.
I was worried that I chose wrongly and bought the other type that needs blackish water. Luckily all has "straight" back (learnt from this thread, http://www.aquaticquotient.com/forum...Orange-Shrimps).
If it failed again, yes, I am most likely to try Cherry again.

I thought so too. Now I'm trying to get the basics right first. If it still fail, then something is really not right as you mentioned.

Oh.. last week i also brought this sunkist shrimp. But actually i notice there are two type of it. Yellow or Sunkist. Your seem like more lighter tone, mine is more deeper colour.
But please do not mix with RCS, it will cross breed.

My 1st batch of RCS already died.
2nd batch, which is Fire Red, left 1 piece but couldn't locate it anymore.
I'll stay with this 3rd batch of sunkist. if it didn't work out, I'll go back to RCS.

When we were at LFS, i took a bag of Cherries, fire red and sunkist. My son will do "Eeny, meeny, miny, moe" before settling on the sunkist.
As we progress to the tanks where the CRS were, immediately he said he wants CRS..
After much persuasion, i managed to convince him that sunkist is a good choice.
For me, i also like CRS, the colours were way much better than Neos. But our tank condition don't allow at this time.

Update:
3 or 4 died after a day or 2.
Thereafter no more death until today.
Left 6-7 shrimps.
Let's see if these can make it longer.

Don't the fan cause water to evaporate leaving lots of white stains?
So far i did not notice that. Probably i did not pay a closer look. I'll update again if I happened to observe any while stains.

Maybe because you are using distilled water? Mine the white marks like calcium...scrub also cannot come out.

Yes, i am using distilled water and probably that's why I'm not seeing that.

How do I read this as in how many wattage my lighting is generating?
Is it 0.5W * 7 = 3.5W?

I guess you can consider it as 3.5W, for reference and comparison purposes.
The power draw listed on packagings usually tend to be higher, maybe the LEDs are over-driven slightly or there are losses in power usage? Perhaps the electronics experts can provide their input.

I asked because i kept this in my note (after reading from an online source), that a lighting rough guide (for low tech tank) is 1.5 Watts per Gallon.

Yeah, you can't use the watt-per-gallon (WPG) rule for LED lights or for smaller nano tanks, their figures and power efficiency are way different... those WPG estimations are based on older T5 light technology and larger tanks.
If you use the WPG rules with LED lights, quite often you'll end up with results that say you have ultra-low light or not enough light, simply because LED wattage is much less than T5.
