Hi everyone, I just bought 5 baby Clown Loaches which are just above 1 inch in length. My tank has no lid and I'm afraid they might jump. I have about 3.5 inch height allowance, do you think they can jump pass that?

If I need to get a lid, where can I get someone to custom-make one with the dimensions I supply? I'm not good at working with tools hehe.

    Thanks a lot in advance!

    My guess is no.

If you provide them with hiding places like caves or driftwood, it should be quite safe.

I found that tanks made with all round bracing (Euro-bracing?) are very much less prone to having fish jumping out. I have two such tanks and suicide rate is almost zero.

Is Clown Loaches suitable for planted tank? I read somewhere that they are good on getting rid of snail.

    Clown loaches = H2O mice

Clown loaches are as much cowards as they are introverts.
The only way to get them to surface is to starve them for days. And when they’re up feeding, the slightest surface disturbance or tap would send them jumping off their “scales” and go downwards back into the water. Not jabbing upwards into the air.

    I Have-2-Of these mice.

You need not worry one bit.

In my case, I don't see them getting rid of my snails. Think twice about putting them in.
    1) They like to leave bite marks on big leaves like those of Echinodorus.
    2) Once you put them in a big tank, it is very tough to catch them out.

For snail control, I hear that puffer fish does the best job.

Have you ever seen a wide-eyed clown? That’s how my clown loaches would behave everytime they came close to a pc of snail. They would pull over, wonder at it, and then swim away with a “what-the-heck-is-this? expression on their mousy countenance!

I came, I saw, I swam away! So they say!
