Im about too start a 25Gallon tank, going for the "Amano Look", with mainly Riccia, 1 root and 1 larger plant, maybe Anubias heterophylla, but there are so many to choose from.
I will use Co2, liquid-ferts. and 'cause i want proper lighting.

    But now my questions are:
    My lighting so far is:
    1 x 24W 5000 kelvin
    1 x 24W 9000 kelvin
    1 x 28W 3000 kelvin
A total of 76watts, is this suficient for growing nice green riccia with co2 and ferts in a 25gallon? and is the kelvin acceptable?

    Second question:
Do I need base fert? Because my aquarium is not that tall/high, and I think I would lose to much height with both the base fert and normal gravel.

    Thnx in advance...

My feeling is you'll need a little higher wattage. Perhaps round it off to 100W. I'm using 72W for my 2ft and I don't know if my foreground plant will finally stay low. I've no idea about the Kelvins... looks allright to me though.

If your main theme is Riccia, I think you can forego the base fertiliser. But seriously, base fertiliser takes up probably like 1cm of the tank height only

The wattage should be OK with 3WPG but try to get higher K bulbs.

Forget about the 3000 and 5000 as they are not the best for planted tank. Get something between 6500 - 8000 preferrably. Some people also use higher K (up to 10000) but I have not tried before.

Whether you need base fert depends on what you are going to plant. If just riccia and anubia, you don't need. Just a layer of gravel (otherwise it won't look good).

When u wanna up to 100W, beware of your fertlizers dosage and temperature. If the fert level is insufficent, u will see algaes spread within a week... This is the problem that I am facing with my riccia ground
