'Burnt' foliage

Hi,

Has anyone experienced this?
Leaves becoming "burnt", dried up, discoloured for plants which have reached the water surface level.

Is this b'cos the lights are too close to the water surface?

BTW, am using 2 X Ocean Free WJ light set 90cm x 27watt x 2 pl tubes for a 3.5 feet tank.
Is this sufficient?

Not enough humidity, once it breaks the surface.

At the moment only the Eichhornia diversifolia has reached the surface.

So the stalks that have hit the water surface & are pushing thru, their leaves which break the surface become dried up (looking burnt).
I replanted some, but I guess I will face this problem when they reach that height again.

think its quite normal once it break the surface, even hardy spp. except for anubias will dry up

not really, just make sure the leaf stays under the surface, or else, you have to trim it off

Got to ask this newbie question.
So I just trim the part that is breaking the surface?

Cos the top seems to be the part where the new leaves are coming out from. Then cut already, how about new growth?

I read somewhere that Eichhornia diversifolia can't multiply thru cuttings?
Is that correct?

sorry, can't answer yr qns, I haven't had any experience with E. diversofolia, but if you do not want to trim, u can push them down or trim the bottom portion and replant
