It depends on your scape. Keep in mind that the position of your spray bar will determine the direction of your current in your tank and this ultimately will also affect your scape which again depends on the the scape that you are having.
I have one tank that depicts a river scene, so I have the outlets in my tank all pointing towards the same direction. I have another tank that has no particular scape in mind but I just want a most efficient water flow to minimize dead-spots, and for that I just have my spray bar positioned in the center of the back pane facing forward, angled slightly upwards to create surface agitation to encourage gaseous exchange as that is a low-tech set up.
Another point to note if you are a feng shui believer is to always have the water flow away from the door so that your wealth does not flow out.
