from 14L to 8L tank.
your soil layer is thick!
maybe slope up to the rear looks better?
Ok thanks. Had a layer of powder over the soil. I worry if I adjust the soil now, will it cause the water parameters to run & I need restart the cycling process? Currently 10 days into cycling.

any reason why so thick soil?
Good for buffering... just that the flat scape looks a bit too flat...
Using under gravel filter, thus the thick soil - hopefully more nutrients.

what soil is that??
might not be advicable to use Undergravel filter with soil... it has different function like sand....
Agree with fireblade. Soil not recommended to go with undergravel filter.
Nutrients in soil will be all removed by the undergravel, together with all the unwanted waste.
Aqua Amazonia soil. Yes I read that soil will expire faster if use with ugh. Hope the thick layer can last longer into 12-15 months. For now, hope it gives more beneficial bacteria to help cycling.

Do be extra careful with water parameters and algae management due to your filter setup... the UGF will be drawing all the nutrients from the soil and flooding the water column with it, so there will be high excess levels of nutrients in the tank, especially since you are only growing moss which take up very little of the nutrients. Do more frequent and larger water changes to flush out the excess nutrients during this initial cycling period.
The soil will also start to breakdown into dust much more quickly with the UGF too, so over time when you notice that the water column starts getting cloudy with soil dust and the filter gradually get clogged up, it'll be time to overhaul the entire substrate and filter system.
Thanks for the kind advise, will take note of this. Anyone know in such setup (UGF) typically how long will soil last before they expire? 1 year? 1.5yr? Or 2yrs?

Notice some white foam on driftwood, can anyone advise what is this? Sorry for the poor image, taken using phone. (The white spots in water are air bubbles). Should I be concern with the white foam on wood? Safe / harmful to shrimps?

It's just some kind of fungus. Will go away by itself.
Its just fungus or mold growth feeding off the organic material on the wood... you can manually remove them or just let them disappear on their own over time.
no worries about that... the shrimps will take care of it....
Thanks you all for the assurance with regards to the fungus.
After 2 weeks of cycling:
TDS 104
PH 6.5
GH 4
KH 2
Ammonia 0
NO2 0
NO3 0
What TDS should I aim for? For CRS shrimps.
Maybe 1 more week...waiting....bored.

Ammonia and nitrate still at zero after the tank is running for 2 weeks with that much ADA Amazonia aquasoil? That's very unusual... what test kits are you using?
Soil & powder used is Aqua Eden brand (not Amazonia), had earlier thought they are the same but apparently not. Recommended by the LFS as first time for me setting up shrimp tank. Test kits API brand.
What TDS is ideal/common for CRS?
