My CPO has overgrown !

I have similar encounter before but that tank already decommissioned when all died.

I bought 3 cpo, very small and equal size, 2 of the same tank, 1 from another tank.

The same tank ones are the orange cpo.
The other one is blue one.

I did not ask the staff when I bought it.

Soon, the blue one outgrown the other 2. Size difference is what you have now.

I feed very little and am not sure if this is the reason that I suspect the big one is attacking the smaller ones.

One died soon after.

Another one is always hiding in the java fern, never go down to the ground.

I tried removing the big one to a quarantine tank for a few days and after that i can see the smaller one going to the ground. At that point. It already lost one of its claw.

My tank is very small and not much hiding place also.

What I'm trying to share is, you might have to monitor if the big one will start to terrorise the smaller ones.

haha. yea they are aggressive. I have been keeping cpo for about a year already and all of the previous batch did not survived past 3 months, they fought themselves to death.
My current batch of cpo is about 4 months and they look quite peaceful to each other! all 5 of them
still had their claw intact .

If you catch them fighting, you should immediately separate them. After awhile, they will know that they should not fight and they will leave each other alone

Those are not CPO, they are orange Procambarus clarkii.

Wow tks. I have the exactly same crayfish as TS. By the way how big can they grow? But they seem like non aggressive type.

Probably because CPO only grow to a max size of around 5cm or 2 inches. Anything bigger than that probably not cpo

CPO have a distinct dark orange-brown line on the back of its tail. If you compare it to an orange P. Clarkii, this line is not as obvious and will be lighter.

Really? I always see CPO in those bags, next time must inspect closer. On the up side these cost more, about $10 each.

I bought mine from sea view in a packet of 5 too..

I just came back from seaview and i checked all the bags, all of them were CPOs. Maybe that day they pack wrongly
