Good day to all the sifu here,
I am wondering if it would be fine for the shrimps if I use a tiny porcelain bowl as a feeding dish for the shrimps? I put it in my shrimp tank yesterday, seems like the shrimps are intimidated by the bowl, the bowl sits about 1cm above my substrate, cannot really dig the bowl deeper into the substrate.

Haha.... I know, I just thought if I can use what I have, why not~~ anyone tried to use those types of feeling dish before?
The shrimps will be wary of the dish at the beginning but they will be fine with entering the dish after a few days. I used the porcelain dish bought from daiso. Lol
I used it in my shrimp tank and fish tank. No issue. Just wash it thoroughly with plain tap water will do
What food u guys feed them with? I'm just using pallets throwing it down the tank.
i feed my shrimps hikari algae wafer once in a while, as there are already algae and moss which is their daily source of food
These wafer are in small beans form right...do we need a dish?
i supposed you don't really need a feeding dish, most of the time when i throw in the sinking wafer into the dish, the shrimps will pull it out and move to somewhere else.
Those wafer looks like this,

not those "bean" types, those are pellets i supposed.
Greeting all
While i was at seaview aquarium i saw this feeding dish selling @$6 ANS brand .
Must the feedish dish placed on the substrates or can it be hanging above the substrates? I got DIY one using contact lens box. But the shrimp dun seem to eat the food. I was thinking is that a must to put on substrate
Both methods can work, it just takes abit of time for the shrimps to get used to the location of the feeding dish... once they are familiar with it, they will "smell" the food during feeding time and swim to the feeding dish.
Its best to position the feeding dish at the area with lowest flow, so that the food doesn't get blown around and the shrimps can sit in it and eat peacefully.
Maybe also look at getting a larger feeding dish, so that there will be space to accomodate more shrimps during feeding. The acrylic ones (around 7cm diameter) available at places like East Ocean and Seaview are suitable.
