    Hi all,

I have recently got some cheap pond clams. Raising them in a wine glass filled with sand in my 2ft tank

What do they eat? I heard greenwater does the trick. Please advise thank you

    Re: Black Pond Clams Diet?

You got them from C328? I did notice they stocked the dark coloured versions in packets recently.

I guess the dark coloured versions should be the same as the golden versions, they filter feed from the water column, so green water is good. Any suspended food particles will also be eaten by them, just need to ensure that there is ample circulation and flow around the clams (especially if you keep them in a restricted location, as they can't move around to better locations).

If you find that they are dying or not growing much, it usually means there is a lack of suspended food sources. I sometimes use products like Liquifry (tiny food particles in liquid form meant to feed fish fry) or crush fish pellets and mix with spirulina powder and dissolve into a liquid mix, then squirt the liquid food into the flow path of the clams. That helps supplement their diet.
