Noticed my MC and frog bits are turning a bit yellowish. Wonder what's the cause as I have maintained my regular fertilising regime. Not sure if it's due to change in fertilizer. Was using easy life and switched to seachem flourish few weeks ago. Also dosing iron, potassium sulphate (powder mixed in water). All per recommended dosage and once a week. Only change is to seachem flourish. Tank size 180 litre, CO2 around 3 bps, lights 6 hours. Noticed the other plants (mini moss, hydrocotle etc) are doing fine! Can anyone advise? Should I increase dosage to twice per week?
Leaves of faster growing plants like MC or frogbits turning yellow is a basic sign of nutrient deficiency... seems you have the micro/trace nutrients covered, maybe the macro nutrients (ie. nitrates or phosphates?) are starting to be depleted, can consider dosing those and see if there are any improvements.
The other alternative is to feed your fishes abit more.
Thanks UA. Does seachem has any products for phosphates? Didn't seem to see any. I dose seachem phosphorus too but believe it's different. My frogbits is growing so fast that I have to throw away every week. Wonder if that has absorbed all the nitrates!

your frogbits is turning yellow, but growing so fast that you have to throw away? now that's confusing.. I agree with UA, the only major nutrient you have not mentioned is nitrates. and again I agree that the easiest way is to feed more. ha ha ha lazy and budget ppl like me do play cheat like that.

Growth continues albeit yellowish in the leaf. Interestingly the other plants in the tank are still as green as ever!! Just these two!
Cause MC is fast grower.. anything lack in your water they will suffer first.. lol
Yeah, fast growers like frogbits will usually be the first to show any nutrient deficiencies in the tank. When they grow too much they will start to outcompete the other plants and rapidly deplete nutrients.
To restore the nutrient balance, you can just remove more of the frogbits so that they use up less nutrients (since they are mainly used for soaking up nutrients, not part of the aquascape)... or just dose more nutrients (both macros and micros) if you want to keep growing more frogbits to harvest for giving away or selling to others.
