What amount of KNO3 to dose in a 2ft?

I just bought the LushGro KNO3 from NA. Chan said alot of people bought it.

How much do i dose in a 2ft tank? Does not state on the bottle and Chan is not sure too. The bottle comes with a small spoon like those docs give to drink cough mixture. Will dosing it harm the cherry and yamato shrimps?

For me, I dose one teaspoon every two days for my potassium and nitrate levels in my Java fern dominant tank.

The amount to dose will vary according to different tanks. Try adjusting, or use Chuck's calculator to figure out the levels you want and the apporpriate dosing amount.

I make a stock dosing solution.

- Mix 2 tablespoons (or 6 teaspoons) of KNO3 to 500ml of water. 1ml of this solution added to 40l of water will raise 1ppm of NO3.
- Mix 2 tablespoons (or 6 teaspoons) of KH2PO4 to 500ml of water. 1ml of this solution added to 40l of water will raise 1ppm of PO4.

Note that on the double ended spoon that comes with the bottle, the small spoon is half a teaspoon and the big one is one teaspoon.

Parts per million, it's like a unit of measure. I've no idea how to derive it though

Are you doing a CO2 or non-CO2 tank? How much light do you have over your tank? Critter loading?

Solenoid CO2, have afew yamatos and cherry shrimps in the tank. light is 36W PL

Try the following routine for a start.
1/8 teaspoon of KNO3 1-2x a week
1 rice grain of KH2PO4 1-2x a week
2.5ml of traces 2x a week

Add dry for the KNO3 and KH2PO4.
Main thing is keeping the CO2 in good shape but with low light you have over your tank, you will have more wiggle room for error in measurements. Target for 30ppm ...even if the reading is off, you are still good with low light requirements.

Oh, do plant heavily....most do too little.
