2211 might be too small for your tank, I would go for 2213 (not sure the new naming).
12mm and 9mm is quite standard hose, C328, NA, Polyart sure have it.
Hey bros,
I am starting a new low-profile tank (length 75cm / height 28cm / breadth 25cm). Volume is about 50L I believe.
I am thinking of getting the Eheim Classic 150 (2211), plus a glass lily pipe, glass inlet tube and transparent hoses (generic cheap brands will do).
But the 150 has has different sizes for its inlet (12mm) and outlet (9mm). I have spoken to quite a few big LFS and they can't seem to provide me with a full set matching pipes and hoses because of the 'weird' sizes.
I am hoping to get it all in one shop so that I can physically test the connection with the 150. It is my first time using a canister filter and I just want to make sure.
Does the 150 make sense in this case?Aand is the a one-stop shop I can get it all? I think I may be over-confusing myself...
Thanks bros.

Thanks Shadow. Think the 2213 is now called 250.
The 250 is stated as 'suitable for 80L to 250L', is that too powerful for my tank?
Actually the Seaview uncle did suggest I get the 250 because he will have all the matching pipes and hose.
for planted tank? planted tank 2213 should be OK. For planted tank you need more flow because your wood, rocks and long plants will block the flow. You might also want to add chiller or CO2 reactor which will also reduce the flow.

I'd also say go for the 2213... even up to 2215 would also be good if you can.
You will need the extra flow rate, especially if you install additional inline equipment and/or the filter gradually clogs up and slows dow over time in between maintenance. The extra filter media volume will also help to handle a greater bio-load and maintain a more stable cycle.
Its easy to adjust and tune down flow using double taps if its too strong, but if you have a slower flow filter, you have no way to increase the flow... therefore its always better to go for higher flow filters from the start.
The 150 is too small for your tank. Get 250 or higher. If the flow is too large you can turn it down, but not the other way. It is always better to oversize it and also as the media gets dirty the flow rates tends to decrease too.
I am using the 150 for my 1 feet cube. The outlet is small thus you cannot install a larger outlet lilipipe. Because of that, I bought the ADA ss size spring washer that cost $55 else I cannot fully clean the outlet. Only ADA has this small size bristle.
Make sure you buy the quick disconnect (double pipe) too aid your maintenance. It is worth the price and reduce the risk of breakage as you can disconnect the in/outlets from the filter. You need to clean the lilipipes more often than the filter.
Lilipipe i I would recommend gush brand from green chapter. Not too expensive and quality is good. Anything cheaper I would not recommend.
I agree with zeonic. Get a double tap for better maintenance and gush pipe for the good quality.
Wow, I'm really surprised that you all say the 150 (2211) is too small for my tank, I was actually hoping to get a even smaller one!
Ok looks like I'll listen to you guys and get the 250 (2213) instead. Having the same inlet/outlet size is also less confusing. Haha.
Good call on the double tap, but I'm not sure how that works? Perhaps I'll just get the seaview uncle to sort it out for me.
Double taps are installed between the tubings connecting the filter to the lilypipes.
It acts as a way to disconnect the filter and the lilypipes. So basically you shut off the taps and you can disconnect the lilypipes so water will not go gushing out (although the filter is powered off)
Alrighty, crystal clear, will do just that!
Will go to Seaview in a short while, thankfully my workplace is right beside, heh.
Ok bros, just bought the below at Seaview, I hope I have gotten it correct:
*Eheim 250 (2213)
*ANS set of glass lily pipe and intake pipe - 13mm
*3m of grey/transparent hose
*Set of 2 double taps (I bought the Eheim one which was surprisingly not cheap at all...)
So the connection will be Canister > hose > double tap > hose > lily pipe/intake pipe. Correct?
Should I place the double tap nearer to the canister or to the lily pipe/intake pipe? I would imagine it's better to have it nearer to the lily pipe/intake pipe with only about 10cm of hose in between, so that I can remove the whole lily pipe/intake pipe with only a short length of hose for cleaning. Hope my logic is correct.
yes logic is correct assuming you don't have small kid with itchy hand who always want play with the knob![]()
Double tap placement is up to individual preference... though for those with cabinets, they would prefer to install the double taps closer to the canister filter, so that the double taps would be hidden from view when looking at the tank.
I guess it just depends on which is more convenient and how much equipment you want to show.
