Shrimps dying but i revived them...

1st week into my planted tank, all 5 yamatos died in 2 days after i introduce them into the tank. Lesson learned from you guys was tank not mature enough and probably not enough plant mass...

My 4th week now, have 12 types of plants in the 2ft tank and wanted to try keeping shrimps again. Got 3 cherries and 2 yamatos to test water and was so happy to find them still alive after 5 days in the tank, cherries were very red too!!!

But my happiness turned to sorrow after adding 2 new plants today. Within a couple of hours, my shrimps are dying... I have already rinse the plants in a pail of water before planting them. But while planting them, i churned up some dirt on the gravel which coz them to fly everywhere around the tank...could this had coz them to die?...

The symptoms that all the 5 shrimps exibited was same as the 5 yamatos that died before. Usually they are always hiding away in the plants from my rams and swordtails, but after i added the new plants, they started swimming all over the tank actively and half an hour later, they will just fall off from the plants they are hanging on or in the mid of swimming and drop "dead like" onto the gravel.

I took all of them out and placed them in a container filled purely with diamond water without conditioner and managed to revive them.

Here are some picts, one of the cherry shirmp (far right lying on its side) is still falling in and out of consciousness but getting better by the min. Hours before, all 5 were lying on their side.

I am thinking of doing 50% water change for the next 5 days before putting them back into the tank but can the shrimps last 5 days in the container without food and will the bigger yamatos munch on the cherries? Wat else can i do to my tank? Fishes are all fine...

at 4 weeks your tank may not be completely cycled?

I understand that it takes couple of months for a tank to be fully cycled but all was well until i introduced the new plants that i got from NA today...And all my plants except toninas are growing well too...

Hmm... that's interesting. I've a four week old tank. Quite heavily planted, all plants doing fine. I introduced Malayans after about 2 weeks and they're doing well. I'm intending to introduce yamato soon. I don't think it's a cycling issue, probably something went wrong when you planted the new plants. Maybe stirred up fertiliser or sediment?

Stirring up sediments or the base ferts can kill the shrimps? I did stir up sediments and base ferts while pulling some plants out of the tank and rescaping a little when i introduced the new plants...

By the way..all the shrimps are alive and kicking now...still in the small container though... :P

Malayan are more hardy than yamato, I think its simply because of transport shock

i think it could be due to the cycle problem.
I hv recently re-scaped two of my tank, replacing with ADA soil etc.
Yamatos were ok for the first 1+ wk and then as the water was becoming crystal clear, one after another fell dead. I was shocked. All of them were at top condition before the change.
    The fishes were ok though.

I believe Diamond Water is water filtered through the Diamond Water Filtration system.

Yes they are still surviving and i have introduced them back into the tank .

Dunnoe anything about the properties of the water...basically it comes with a system of 6 tubes of filtration and it connected directly to the tap water supply. After going thru the filteration, it clears the chlorine and stuffs and you can drink it immediately without havin to boil the water.
