May I know where can I source for it with a decent price.
Don't mind going to LFS let them earn abit if it is with ease and no hassle.

And how do I know what thickness of the glass should be adequate?
    For braceless?

I recently saw a batch of 90cm x 30cm x 30cm braceless tanks available at Seaview, normal glass, priced at around S$60+ each... may not be exactly the height you are looking for (they are 30cm tall, not 36cm), but it's quite close. Can check them out there.

If you prefer high-clarity low-iron glass tanks at the exact dimensions you want, then i guess you'll have to get them custom made by local tank makers.

Yeah, there are alot of imaginative names given to normal glass and low-iron glass tanks, have to personally check them out to see the actual glass quality... btw, "asahi glass" usually still refers to normal glass (the ones with greenish tint).

If you are looking to custom make tanks to your exact specifications, just enquire with local tank makers like N30 or CR Aquarium (there are others you can do a search online to find their contacts), they will be able to work out a quotation for you.

Custom made high-clarity low-iron glass tanks are generally alot more expensive though, usually costing much more than off-the-shelf equivalent sized versions, so you'll just have to consider if its worth custom making those versus just adapting your intended aquarium space to the more commonly available ready-made tank dimensions.

    Re: Where to buy / make 90cm x 30cm x 36cm good clarity tanks?

    Yah. Did a brief comparison.

Kind of in a dilemma. I did ordered a 60x30x36.

But I bought a chiller and all the other stuff which is impossible to fit inside a 2 ft cabinet.
The space for my tank is actually the Entrance Doorway towards the Living/Dining Area. floor map.jpg

So I thought get a 3 feet will almost flush with that wall, but a 45 cm width will be eating too much into the walkway, so kind off stuck.

Not recommended to put your chiller inside the cabinet anyway due to the heat produced. If you are just fitting a canister and CO2, the 2 feet will have more than enough space in the cabinet. Otherwise, i think best for you to approach a tank maker for suggestions.

Can i just check your opinion on a "crystal glass" vs a normal glass?.

GC was quoting for a 90cm x 45cmx45cm . They call it "floating" for normal(green tint) vs crystal. The floating is only $270 and the crystal is $770. Thats 3 times more! The difference of $500, can cover for my cabinet. So i am wondering if it is worth the excess price as the tank is the showcase for all the effort and time down the road.

Yes, high-clarity low-iron glass (aka crystal glass) tanks are generally more expensive than normal glass tanks... though their actual prices can differ quite alot between different LFS and brands.

Do check out the 3ft crystal glass tanks at other places like East Ocean, Rainbow Aquarium, Seaview etc... the prices do vary.

Here is an example of the price of a 3ft crystal glass tank that used to be on sale at Seaview:

Not sure if they still have stock of similar units though, it'll be worth checking out.

It really depends on your budget. I say go for the most you can stretch. Definitely go for crystal glass. I did mine at CR aquarium. I saw some sets at Aquatic Avenue and their quality was visibly better. Maybe a little lower than GC but still comparable. They are a friendly bunch so you can go there to enquire. For budget low iron glass, like mine, go for CR aquarium. Tank plus cabinet around 600 + bucks. Thats 2ft

Yes, Low iron = Crystal glass
But apparently there are different grades. Aquatic Avenue has a new shipment where the glass has a blue tinge instead and visibly nicer. Its all in the perspective. You may want to go down to check it out.

    Re: Where to buy / make 90cm x 30cm x 36cm good clarity tanks?

Yes, the tank is still there at $145, quite the bargain. While the fitting cabinet underneath is $250, so for $395, you can have an entire set to go.

But I also ask the boss about customizing it for an overflow, but he said for crystal tanks, it is purely off-the-shelf, he said he doesn't do customization for crystal tanks though. Quite puzzled with that as if you can customized float glass tanks, surely you can customized crystal glass right? But I did not bother to ask more as he was busy.

I guess they are probably not too confident or familiar with drilling those particular type of glass.

Looks like you'll have to check with the various tank makers (ie. N30, CR Aquarium etc) for customization of crystal glass tanks.

Hi Sky, care to share what you have sourced and finally got?
By the way bros, they are called low ion glass, not low iron glass.

    Re: Where to buy / make 90cm x 30cm x 36cm good clarity tanks?

    Hi,

But actually I had custom one previously from AA a 60x30x36 one which took about a month to reach as theirs was overseas supplier , then I managed to get the Green Light from the COO of my home after the AA one reached for a 3 feet so didn't feel like waiting another month to custom or use the 2 feet and regret later.
So I called CR and they can deliver in a week and the price was reasonable so I bought from them.

Now I have 2 tanks to compare , just giving my own opinion the workmanship of the AA is slightly better.
The cleaning up of the silicon, level on the "rim" of the 4 pieces of glass, the joints. But still it is pretty okay.

    Additional note.
AA have a "higher" grade of glass they call PPG, which is the blue tinge one some had mentioned that is much pricier than our standard Low Iron/Ion , high clarity glass but the looks and feel is like ADA.
Cos I happened to be there last Saturday when Eugene was opening up the wooden crates for some tank shipment that arrive.

    hope that helps.

Its "low iron glass", not low "ion".

The greenish tint in normal glass is due to iron content added during their manufacturing process... high clarity glass has much less iron content, which results in less greenish tint and better clarity, hence called "low iron".

Yup the ppg glass or otherwise known to me as blue tinge glass is pretty nice. Will try that if i am allowed a 3 ft to take over my 2ft tank at home. They have a sample there.
