    Hi guys.
I just (about 2 minutes ago) saw this most awesome idea to clean lily pipes.
Has anyone here tried this before?
To make it even safer ( so as not to scratch the inside of the pipes) one can use a small bar shaped neodym magnet covered with velcro. The velcro will give more scrubbing area and be faster.
    Cheers

Of course I did, that my video You just need magnet, filter wool and ball bearing. Other metal should also work but ball shape easier to maneuver in round corner

No, I did not. My shrimp will take care of it. It would be too small for the net to catch anyway.

some pic on the process of making it, very simple really.

But can I use your magnet technique on Eheim's taps as I find the disconnect tap is thick.
Honestly, I don't use Eheim brand as they're $$$$. I'm currently using the some generic brand ( the one with black body and red tap).

I just use word Eheim for the convenient sake, other brand also can. I'm not sure if the magnet can pass true the valve thickness but you can drop the ball berring inside and use the magnet to move it once reach the glass.

Come to think of it, having a valve tap of good quality is always better than breaking the lily pipes in the course of cleaning and then panicking to find a replacement which in turn adds to more expenses. (touch wood)

Wow! Great idea, thanks Shadow! I might try it out but instead of tying, perhaps I'll glue. Do you think it'll still work?

it should work, but after a while the filter wool become dirty and you might want to change it. That could be a chalenge.
