    Hi All,

Need some advice, I used to rare fishes in no-planted tank. But it has since been awhile since I've gone back to this hobby. But recently I want to start going back to this hobby but instead of fish I was think of doing a planted tank with shrimps.

Problem is not sure how to start with planted tank. What I have currently is a 2ft (L) x 2ft (H) x 1ft (W). Some of my friends were saying that the tank is not suited for planted. But I don't want to waste the tank, is there a way to some how do this?

    Thank you.

For a plants aquarium, carbon dioxide is more important. For fish and bacteria, oxygen is more important. So you see, it is not an easy and simple thing.

If you want a lot of plants, you cannot have a lot of fish at the same time because there will be a conflict of needs. That is why heavily planted scape tanks only have little or very small fish.

Your tank dimensions are okay for a planted tank... just do your research on the requirements of plants and shrimps. Its possible to have a planted shrimp tank, you could start with easy low-demand plants and hardy shrimp species, then progress from there.

The only thing to take note of is the taller tank height of 2ft may require more powerful lights to create enough light intensity to reach the plants closer to the substrate level, so thats something to take into consideration when planning the equipment setup.

Any picture updates on your planted tank attempt? I'm considering a tall tank for my next project too.
