I ran mine at 9V ... seems to be optimum air versus noise level. 12v is much noisier and not really blowing a lot more air. my 2 cents worth.[/quote:30789a8df8]
Agree, 9V seems to be the optimum setting. However, for those who are going to buy 9V adaptors (or any adaptor for that matter), make sure that the current rating of the adaptor can sustain all your fans. I made a mistake of buying any adaptor and it melted and burned out while I was at work :P

DC fan noisy? Have you check the stand or fixture? Usually the noise come from the vibration when the fan touches something like tank or the lights.

My DC fans are noisy too. They are running at full power. I think they should be quiet when they are running at lower power.

Anyway, not only the DC fans are cheap, you can source for cheap ac/dc adaptors at Sungei Road flea market -- at your own risk of course. [/quote:84d579307b]

Maybe that is why you AC/DC adaptor break down.

You can get AC/DC adaptor and PC Fan from Sim Lim Tower.
AC/DC adaptor - Check the output to make sure it can take the fans load.
If you need 2 fans and the fan requires 0.150mamp, then your AC/DC adaptor output must be above 350mamp. BTW, I forgot what is the PC fan voltage. I think it is 12V, so your AC/DC adaptor output must be the same.

I'm not sure about supplying 9v to a 12v DC fan. You may be you forcing the AC/DC adaptor to work harder.

It's an art learnt from pc modders to run fans at lower voltage for a quieter system to cool down their usually overclocked systems ... make use of the p.d. of the 5v and 12v pins at the power connector in a PC.
