Hey there,

in the past I used to keep fishes in different occasions but non of them survive long.

The only one that survived for about 4-5 years was this long kang fish I got from a school pond.
It was dull orange and about 1" size.
Kinda interesting, I kept it in a 15cmx15cmx15cm ikea tank and fed it with pellets and it grew surprisingly well to about 3"+ and its color became really
radiant like goldfish color.

Then I was introduced to qian hu fish farm. There were bags of small kois for sale. So I got two bags of about 15 kois each, without doing research as I was young and ignorant. Before that I was lucky to scavenge a 3 ft tank downstairs my house dumpster, along with filter and light some more. So i cleaned it up and set up before pouring the fishes in. First mistake.

Second mistake, there was no landscapes or decorations at all, so the fishes were nibbling on each other and going crazy over boredom, again, I wasn't sure of what to do, so I just let them die one by one, my long kang fish was still alive.

Then one day because did not clean the tank for quite some time, the tank became filled with algae and turned green, I decided to switch off the filter and leave it there a while before I clean the tank. Grave mistake, a few moments later, all died, including my long kang fish. I was saddened by it but also deserved it as I was responsible for the lives but did not take good care of them.

As I grew up, I became more responsible. One day, I walked past lavender's LFS and saw the uncle selling spotted puffers at a cheap price, so I bought one on impulse. Again, did not do research and just left it in good old 15cm by 15cm by 15cm tank without filter, pump, or decorations. Surprisingly the puffer was really healthy. Through all this unorthodox methods of keeping fish, it did stayed with me for a good 5-6 mths before it died while I was serving my 2 weeks confinement. Again, saddened and another lesson learned. Remember to do research before buying pets.

Due to my experience with able to keep fishes alive without filter or pump and in a small environment, I thought I gave it a go again, this time with 2 spotted puffers. To cut the story short, they died also. Realizing those fishes I kept without filter or pump were already in packets and not in tanks.

So this time, I really did my research, but still not enough. Comments received saying my tank is too small for my 2 current spotted puffers. Don't worry, I'm already on my way to getting one 2ft one, hopefully is enough.

Current setup: L24 X 20B X 25H acrylic, marine sand, 2 1"+ GSP.
