    Hi guys,

    Whats this white thing on my diffuser? Its even creeping up to my wood now.

    Its just fungus/mold that grows in parts of wood and equipment, just pick and clean them out.

    Its a fungus, normally grow from wood. Nothing to be worry about. It will go away by itself after couple of week. If you have algae eater, it will eat it as well.

    Thanks guys.. so its not harmful? I dont have algae eater but RCS. I did see them nibbling at those white stuff.

    Not harmful, just abit unsightly. The fungus or mold are just feeding on organic substances on surfaces, when they finish consuming it they will either migrate to another surface or simply just die out on their own.

    While its common for them to grow on wood (since its a slowly rotting organic material), its interesting that they sometimes grow on ceramic diffusers too... do you happen to be using DIY yeast or sugar based Co2 systems?

    Yes, i'm using DIY yeast + sugar + sodium bicarbonate CO2.

    Yeah, that seems to happen quite often with DIY CO2 systems, some of the yeast + sugar mix or byproduct does tend to get through to the diffuser and it makes great food sources for the fungus/mold to consume and grow.
