Has anyone done that? Any advantage in mixing HC with Japanese Hair Grass? Will one overrun the other?

Re: Mixing HC with Japanese Hair Grass

I've tried that before... if HC and japanese hairgrass are planted together at the same starting density, once they are rooted and established, the hairgrass will usually grow faster and denser than the HC over time. Its a nice mixed effect though, looks very natural.

You could also try planting more HC and less hairgrass at the start (then regularly remove any excess plants that grow out), that'll help to balance their relative coverage speed in a tank.

Only thing is later when decommissioning the tank, with both plants entwined and mixed together densely, it gets abit tough to separate them for sale.
