    Re: Ap macmasteri babies!

I am not familiar with cichlids

For these species, are the babies carried in the adult mouth when they felt the presence of predators?

In the first pic, i guessed that's the adult pair and not babies?

Do you have a close up on the babies because i cant seemed to locate it.

Thank you! Looks like the fries are almost same size as guppies fries. Nice!

Here is the mother fish with two of the babies. There are only four babies left now
At least there are some rather than none.

There are only boraras and the two apisto in the tank. So I doubt they will feed on the babies. The female will guard the babies. But now the female is missing in tank.

The female apisto may be guarding her eggs.

Have not seen the female for about 2 weeks. Do you think it died somewhere?

Do you have dither fish in the tank? most likely they will come out unlike catfishes , that's really shy

The other fish is only boraras which are much smaller than them and one oto. During the first batch of babies, the female went into hiding too but i still see it swimming around once in a while. But this time, there is totally no sight of her. Will this kind of fish jump out of tank? If it really did, then i think my dog might have eaten it. (she ate two of my fish before, found one in her mouth!)

Yes. Apistogramma may jump but it occurs in rarity.

    Ap macmasteri babies!

Do it slowly... Should not affect. In the wild, there bound to be disturbance in the water, and it cannot be that the parents eat up the fry every time there is a disturbance. Just do it slowly.
