if you look at philipians ADA one. Almost cannot see silicon
Hi all,
I have a cheap 2ft tank and observed that the amount of aquarium silicone used to glue the piece of glass together is quite little. There is a thin layer used. I am afraid that adding too much weight into the tank will make it burst.
Is there any possibility of that happening with this amount of aqua silicone for a 2ft tank?

Your tank is braced at the top section with extra glass strip supports, so it should be much stronger.
I guess you are probably more accustomed to seeing those traditional tanks with super thick silicone seams... nowadays, most people prefer braceless designs with minimal silicone seams, the better quality tanks have very little visible seams, some even look like the glass are not joined by anything, yet they are strong and wouldn't leak.
Here is an example of the silicone workmanship on one of my tanks:
Very thin seams, has been in use for 3+ years so far, no leaks.
I am used to have my marine tank with all those enhance eurobracing and silicone. After I got my new tank for planted...I just couldnt get used to the bare silicone even though its from a reputable tankmaker. Every maintainance I will make a quick check on the joints. Haha..but it does look good and sleek.
