Which would you buy if both are similarly priced

    1. Brand new Maqnum II 55w. (Should be below 10000K temp)
    2. 2nd-hand Jebo 2x18w + 2x18w (Total 72w). 10000K temp.

    I'd choose no.2

I assume that set has individual switches for the 4 tubes, and for the same price I get a 2nd hand one ( which has been used before and thus proven working ) and a higher wattage too.

I make my choice of no.2 also partly due to my skeptism on the quality of the Maqnum 2... I bought a Maqnum 1 and it lasted me probably like 4 months.

No.2 is 2 sets of 2x18w though, thus taking up much of the tank lid's space. And also unsure if it's eballast or iron.

But glaring thing about no.2 is the 10000K color temp. Read somewhere that 10000K is algae-friendly.

    What do you think?
