    Hi,

just changed to inline co2 diffuser. I guess the co2 distribution efficiency is much better now...
Now... My amanos are all hiding at top corner of the tank.
The tetras seems happy... Playing around in the water.

    did a water test:
    ph 6
    ammonia 0
    nitrite 0
    nitrate 20ppm

My ph used to be around 6.4..
Haiz... thing is that I can't measure ph lower than 6.. Api test kit only measures from 6 to 7.6
    Is this affecting my amanos?

    any advise?

    thanks!

Is your tetra harassing your shrimp?

If you improved the Co2 diffusion and distribution, high chance the Co2 levels would be increasing and accumulating higher than before.

Shrimps crowding near the water surface indicate something in the tank environment is stressing them out, since your other parameters look okay, it's most likely the shift in Co2 levels affecting the shrimps, as they take a longer time to adapt to these kind of changes (compared to fishes).

Do you have a drop checker installed? What are the color/readings on it? With better diffusion/distribution, you can start to reduce the BPS injection rate to compensate for the increased Co2 levels.

To help the shrimps transition to higher Co2 levels, try running an air stone or increase surface agitation to improve oxygenation during this period of time, and also ensure good flow and circulation around the tank. Eventually as the shrimps feel more comfortable with the new conditions, they should resume normal activity.

By right amano shrimp is quite hardy one. What is your BPS for CO2? U have co2 drop checker? Sometime the shrimp not enough oxygen, they tend to hide on the top to grasp oxygen.

I am at about 1~1.5 bps. 45L tank.
drop checker is greenish with a tint of blue..

To add on.. I dose 1.2ml of excel, 1.2ml of iron and 1.8ml potassium before co2 kicks in..

Sounds okay... i guess the shrimps just need time to adapt to the change in Co2 diffusion and distribution.
