    Hi all,

I have recently got myself a TDS meter. I have tested it on my 3 tanks. They are at 180, 185 and 372 on the reading.

What is the best TDS reading for any planted tank? I plan to keep the easier shrimps and tiny danios in the tanks

    Re: Ideal TDS range?

TDS that range between 100-200 are usually ideal for planted tanks and most softwater fishes and shrimps that are commonly kept in our aquariums. Its okay to be slightly higher or lower (tanks with higher bio-loads and/or alot of fertilizers added tend to have higher TDS), as most hardy fishes and shrimps can adapt to different TDS levels.

The most important thing is to ensure that any changes in TDS are slow and gradual so that the livestock have time to acclimate to it.
