    I have a 2ft tank 60x30x36 I found by math calculation it
should be 66 litres after minus off the thickness of the glass. Must I minus off the non-water items in the tank? I want to calculate my fertilizer dosing for my tank.

    Re: Tank capacity calculation

No need. The calculation is based on tank size not the actual water inside the tank.

    Re: Tank capacity calculation

    Just to refine your calculations... 60x30x36 = 64,800 ÷ 1,000 = 64.8 liters.

When working out dosages for fert dosing, if you want to be really exact... just calculate the actual water volume based on the inside dimensions of the tank (excluding glass) and height of water (unless you fill it right up to the brim), then minus the soil volume and estimated hardscape volume.

Though most people just use the entire tank volume as a rough gauge for working out fert dosages, some even just round up the figure, since its usually okay to dose abit more (the extra 10%-20% more dosage amount isn't really significant)... unless you have a crazy volume of soil and rocks that fill up most of the tank.
