Hey guys I have been thinking of starting a planted aquarium now for some time but I'm just wondering what equipment/ resources (eg CO2, subtrate, or ferts or wtv) I need.
My Tank has a bit of Java moss just strangly bits growing inside. Its a 60 L (20 Gal ) tank with about 20 RCS, 8 Celestial Pearl Danio, 10 Endler, and 6 Cardinal tetras.
I want to grow something like Hairgrass, or make my Java moss grow faster and bushier. What do I need to do to make it so? I dont have a light currently so it'll be nice if you guys can recommend me one. My filter is an aquaclear 70 and a sponge filter in there in case I need a hopsital tank.
Do planted tanks cost a lot more/ need a lot more time to set up?
Im a student with low budget so if possible can you recommend the cheap yet efficient things that I will need?
    Thanks!

Hi, setting up a planted tank do cost quite a lot but if u camp at buy/sell forum and wait for second hand goods especially lights and co2, u can probably find a good deal. Im a student like you, it took me many months to wait for a good deal to pop up, which would allow me to save money. I suggest you get a t5 lighting for your tank as it is the lowest cost and bright enough. I am using a diy led that is working great for me, got it from simlim square, u can go there to hunt for lights if you dont mind having less aesthetically pleasing lights. Good luck

If not you can try to go to the NA natural aquarium to buy UP-Aqua pro z LED lighting. It's not bad =D

camp around the threads for a fair bit, up a spreadsheet on what you need and work out the budget acquire them abit by abit.
Browse the Buy and Sale section to know the general pricing of the Pre-Loved I items. Then is time for faster finger / sms first.

Your tank is what size? sometimes it is harder to find equiptment for odd/not in trend sizes.

I think aquarium as being like a lake or ocean for your fish but keep in mind surface area is much more important for your fish. Regular tank will be fit for your fish.
