Blackwater biotope is always one of my favourite tank setup. Finally decided to setup a tank to soothe my itchy finger. This will be a Rio Negro biotope either for my pair of Apistogramma Elizabethae or pair of Apistogramma Diplotaenia.

    FTS :

Water is still not tainted enough. Intend to throw in more ketapang to make it into tea-colour. PH is between 5 to 5.5 as of today.

Fauna on my list to get :
    Tucanoichthys tucano
    Corydoras Duplicareus
Corydoras Imitator ( if space allowed )
    Otocinclus Cocama aka Zebra oto
    Wayne.

    Keeping : 2 tier 2ft tanks
Livestocks : Apistogramma Bitaeniata Mamuri, Apistogramma Mendezi, Apistogramma Baenschi Inka 50, Apistogramma Elizabethae, Apistogramma Diplotaenia

I am not sure about commercial KP leaf but I know wild collected KP leaf from park can produce very deep coloring. You can try picking up from park instead of buying. If you tank turned into coca cola color, don't blame me for my suggestion.

    Re: Rio Negro Biotope

South American biotope tank will never be a biotope setup without the "tint".. Good effort on that aspect!
Perhaps what you can do is to shred the ketapang into smaller pieces. Giving the tank some scale..

    Any updates on your setup?
