Greetings bros and sis, as the title mentioned, i need some help on the iwagumi scape. I liked the layout, but there is smth wrong with the layout. Pardon my noobish and weird taste.

I still have another 1kg of soil for the finishing though. Is my arrangements ok or do i need to rescape again? Thanks all in advance

    Re: Iwagumi 1st attempt

Too many rocks taking too much of the tank space? The front of the tank need more space? I think that Iwagumi tank is like a miniature of a mountain and giving the feel of the tank is enormous and spacious. Maybe you should try 2-3 rocks 1st? Find the biggest and the most beautiful rock as your main rock. The rest of the rock shouldn't stole the shine of your main rock but to complement the main rock. Maybe can use the rock on the far right as the main rock. The far 2nd right look a little weird. It somehow will steal the shine if you going to make use of the far right rock as main. Try turn the rock around and it see if it can combine with the main rock and look as one, else make it as another independent rock on the other side or not using it? Maybe can arrange a few rock nearer to the main rock to make it like the peak of the mountain?

I am a beginner too. I can be wrong... Better wait for veteran replies.

Too many rocks I feel. Maybe try varying the height of the standing rocks and play around by making them rest on one another creating an angle effect? Nice rocks by the way, what rocks are those and where did you get them?

    Re: Iwagumi 1st attempt

Thanks for the feedback... say if i wanna keep the numbers of rocks, i could actually cluster them together like 3 from the back left and 2 from the back right?

Or i should remove 2 rocks to make it 5 rocks. Is the pointers i describe correct? Pardon my noobish.

I got the rocks from NA. And it is the largest of their kind available at the time

actually also depends on what fauna you want to keep also.

Probably Apisto it will be nice for them thou not really Iwagumi thou.
Usually they have odd number rocks, one of the big , 2 complementing split the tank in 1/3s ..those kinda stuff

    Re: Iwagumi 1st attempt

My few cents worth. As what others have opined, I feel that there's too many rocks and it's kinda scattered without a 'centrepiece'. For Iwagumi, personally I would prefer a simplistic layout with a focal point and build your scape around that. Anyway, I'm also a noob and scaping can be rather subjective. Most impt is that you like and enjoy whatever scapes you have painstakingly built.......

    Re: Iwagumi 1st attempt

Thanks all for ur feedback. I actually forgotten how my ideal scape should be. But thanks to everybody here, i recalled the scape i initially wanted. I will do the rescape and do another update. From there, i shall seek everybody's idea again.

😅thanks everybody once again. Will update the pic of the rescape at night. Hopefully all the stones arrangements will be correct this time.

Ya, i think the rocks are kinda big for your size of tank.

    Re: Iwagumi 1st attempt

that one rock that is lying down flat infront is killing the scape (for me). I think that piece can be much better utilized standing up at an angle?

also avoid placing rocks of the same size clustered tgt eg. the left cluster.

as above, it's a case of too many rocks in a small tank

    good luck!

    Re: Iwagumi 1st attempt

Hahaha thanks all for the feedback and comments. I have to settle with the previous set up and let my glosso grow abit. I will be looking for new smaller rocks and get back to the scape.

The next nearest place for rock hunting for me is pasir ris farm way. Any other good suggestion in case i could not find the right size? (Looking for 1 big rock, 4 smaller rock this time)

I know, it's not as simple as it seemed. I tried previously and didn't quite turn out the way too haha. Keep trying, you will eventually get there!
