Depend on your light.. I prefer low height as more wide range of light is available for the setup

    Totally not true
Light is one thing, what you want to scape is another thing.
For example, if you want to scape iwagumi, you might want to have shallow thank, that way it look more panoramic.

and one thing to note the height of the place you are placing the tank.
Sometimes if cabinet too high , tank also high when do maintenance you have to use a step ladder/stool

next thing is what fishes you intend to have, Altums and discus personally will feel its abit cramp for them if planted and 30 cm.

    I using 90 x 30 x 36
    5 cm of substate

I find that for tall people, the height of the tank's STAND is more important than the tanks' height.
Most aquarium stands are too low. It is very irritating to have to stoop down every time when admiring the fishes.

    ^^

true that , so I now seat on the floor looking at my tank up close.

Even with 90cm - 1m stand/cabinet I feel its also quite weird, unless you stand quite a distance.

Thus I am looking around for any shop which sells higher stands. Then I'll grab it immediately.
So next time I don't have to sit on the floor, but sit on a chair. Imagine being irritated every time we have to sit on the floor!

I'm standing at 1.68cm so to me is just fine, if the stand is too high i may have big issue.

Actually from the way I see it the avaliable stands now seems to be only Perfect for those whom tanks are near the sofa and such or with chairs near it to fully enjoy

Yes, you are right. The normal height fits the need for the majority of fish keepers who keep their aquariums in the hall.
Only for a fish room, it would be different, as various heights would be required for different usages.

True, but it all depends on how high the chair or sofa is. Not all heights offer the most comfortable viewing.
For example, if one has to sit on the floor, that's obviously a no-no, unless you are Japanese, of course.
One must customise the setup so as to derive maximum pleasure from the viewing/admiration.

To add on tetrakid's view, this is how part of my living room was converted into a zen fish corner.

    image.jpg

The whole idea was to make the cabinet and tank height ideal for viewing from the sofa.

I remember sitting on the sofa and placing masking tape on the empty wall before the cabinet and tank were ordered just to visualise the space.

Do consider your living space too ya.

Re: Advise on 2ft tank high

But I prefer to view my fish by sitting just in front of the tank. Can't see much if sitting too far away.
If I do that same layout, I will place an ottoman stool in front of the tank.

My fish are my pets which I like to be close to them, so there's interaction with them.
Especially goldfish, which have such good eye sight that they can even recognise your face. Lol.
Whenever I meet them. it is always close up, and not far.
