Is it a must to use base mats for fish tank let say 90L

If your cabinet or stand and the floor is perfectly flat and leveled, then it may not be necessary to use a base mat... though its always better to use a good quality thick base mat so that the weight of the tank is distributed more evenly across the cabinet/stand surface, this helps prevent certain areas potentially bending or cracking under stress. It makes a difference in absorbing vibrations from equipment too.

Sera base mats are good, can also look at the chihiros brands ones too (very similar to ADA base mats, just slightly cheaper). You can also check out the BorneoWild or ANS foam mats too, those are the denser types suitable for heavier tanks.
