I'm very confused. I saw bags of these shrimps labelled simply as 'KK' at C328. At the same time there were bags also labelled as 'Blue Tiger Shrimps'. Both look exactly the same but when I asked one of the lady helper, she said they are different.

Any expert can shed as to what are those shrimps that are labelled 'KK'. I'd like to buy if they're neos.

KK should be king kong (or panda?) shrimps... which are caridina species. If they look like blue tigers, maybe the bag was somehow mis-labelled?

@UA, confirmed they are not king kong or panda shrimps. If you were to do a google image on 'blue diamond shrimps', they look very close to those.

@fireblade so you've bought these before? If the offsprings look like cherry shrimps, sounds like neo to me haha. Maybe I'll purchase a bag or 2 and see the results myself as long as they aren't tigers.

I have also always wondered this. In some bags of the so called blue king kong shrimps sometimes there will be this very dark black-brown with orange spots shrimp. I kept this black-brown shrimp in a seperate container as i didnt liek the colouring, then one day i woke up and found it to be blue. Pretty weird, but it quickly turned back to black brown with orange spots.

Those look like transparent yellow backs. Anyway, i feel that for the shrimps sold in C328, the most worth it ones are the baby CRS SS grade packs that go for 5 nos for $38. Those shrimps are really good quality and they grow big fast. The whiteness is quite solid and as per my experience, the intensity remains when they grow big.

Ok, now I even more confused. Blue shrimps with yellow offsprings.. Even better yesterday when I was there, to add to the confusion, there's a new label called 'Super Blue'. Comparing, 'Blue Tiger', 'KK' and 'Super Blue' they all look identical with the same pricing.

@ Junwei, Can those in the 5 for $38 bag do well in 27c temperature? I don't have a chiller so I've never attempted CRS

i saw some at 618 that label as blue king kong too but i think they dont have orange eye blue tiger stripes. rather they look like blue velvet (should be neocaridina?). im not sure if the ones you see at 328 are the same ones as 618 "blue king kong" haha.

I googled Blue Velvet images and yes, they look the same as Blue Diamond too. Highly likely neocaridina but different names given probably.

I bought a bag last week. 1 just died this morning and the colour of the shell turned somewhat reddish. Is this normal?

    Hi hbk16,
How is your blue "kk" doing? Will it breed with RCS?

Re: Blue shrimps labelled as 'KK' at C328

Hi Atwin, they are doing fine in my United Nation (UN) tank and a batch of shrimplets have been observed recently. Thankfully, mine didn't turned out wild, most are blue like below, some a darker shade but none lighter.

Since they are neos, they will definitely cross breed with RCS and I suspect that could be why I have a couple of pieces which turned out black which I find strange as I don't have chocolate shrimps in my tank. Will try capture a picture of the black shrimplet if it does come which is very rare as there's only like 2 pieces in whole of my tank.

    Thanks HBK16.
May I ask what types of shrimps does your United Nation tank consist? I am interested in the blue color and wanted to keep together with RCS.
I had asked the uncle at C328 2 days ago if the blue "kk" will cross breed with RCS and he told me no. That is why I am confused what is the actual breed of this "kk".

Re: Blue shrimps labelled as 'KK' at C328

Well, I went down to Sea View earlier to check on the blue shrimps available. They certainly doesn't look like blue shrimps to me. About 1 to 2 inch big and the colors are somewhat translucent. :/
Can anyone recommend a place/contact that sells blue shrimps somewhere in the East? Thanks! ><

PS: Sorry for hijacking thread x-x

err.. I have all sorts right now, that's why I'm in the midst of setting up a shrimp rack. Currently consist mostly of CRS, CBS, Panda King Kong, Blue Bolt, Golden Bees, Tangerines followed by the neo caridinas which are lesser (Painted Red, Blue Diamonds). T

This breed of KK labelled shrimps at C328 are confirmed Neo caridinas. I've seen them in other shops labelled as Blue Diamonds, Blue Fantasy, Super Blue. As they are neos, they will cross bred with regular RCS, chocolate shrimps etc.

The real KK should be the caridina type i.e. King Kongs in my humber opinion Not sure why C328 label as KK. Why don't you join the shrimps whatsapp chat. A lot of bros there willing to share more info.

Junneh, I thought you dropped by Sunpets as well yesterday? Should have seen the blue diamond shrimps there.. they're the same. Otherwise you can also try GC at machperson. Or you can wait for my shrimplets to grow up
