The bitaeniata better don't be a "green-spot" sub. Quite disappointing i find, IMO.
    Cheers!

hi YES, dun really recommend u to put in all 5 species, especially males.. u can go to ApistoMania and check the database for the pictures.. 3ft is enuff have max. 2 species wif 1 female each.. they require a big terrority.. u might wanna separate them for now.. but do tell us the species u have

some updates: the A. bitaeniata labelled is actually A. sp 'breitbinden.. someone I met at H2O today told me so... they have oso A. sp 'Red point'

Thats pretty bad for putting up as a.bitaniata as A. sp 'breitbinden. Charging the price for a.bit for a.sp 'bre.'

Pretty disappointed this time round [] []
    Cheers!

but he too have another species labelled as A. sp 'breitbinden', could they r mislabelled?

  11. #11
    Hi Simon
I am the guy you met at H2O this afternoon.
I think that the mislabelling is purely accidental, some apistos can be so hard to identify, not the shop's fault.
By the way this is one of the joy of keeping apistos, there are always present surprises.

i did take a looky at the fish and it has some coloration on the dorsal.. hopefully, its what we think it is..

candidi, any comment? did u see the other fishes labelled A. sp breitbinden?

    ken, u bought nanas? kribs?

I would advise not to return your fish, surprise like this is one of the joy of keeping apistos.
Those are definately not Apisto Bitaeniata, however they might just mature into beautiful adults. No harm trying.

Went H2O yesterday and I like the A. macmasteri 'red spot' very much but due to $$$ and lack of tank space, cannot buy leh.
