    my banana plant is rotting, is is the temperature or light that matter?
    the tank is 22gallon with 80 watt of light. the temperature is 33C constant cos the light heat.i see the leaf stem is rotting.

    anything i can do?
    12g planted tank
    22g low ligh planted discus tank
    4g fish only marine tank
    never say never to start a new tank....if got enough money

    use fan to cool down the water!

    Hi

    I have banana plant in my tank and it grow well .... I have 2 fans blowing on the water surface and I can feel the water cold everytime I put my hand in for trimming plants.

    33C is too hot i think ...

    Your temp is definately too hot.

    Also, I read somewhere that the "banana" part of the plant will disappear over time.

    Not sure of the banana plant though but most aquatic plants can still grow in temps of 33 and above till 40 degrees celsius. The plants out in the wild still grows as seen by Tom Barr. However, most plants do better with cooler temps.
