Can you please identify this betta type?

He was sold as a halfmoon, though he looks like a veil tail to me.. I don't mind either way, because I chose him for personality more than anything else and the poor fishy was stuck so long in a small tank at the shop! I had to save him! But I just wanna know! Thank you

i think we would only be able to identify the betta when he flare.. try using a mirror to make it flare before taking a photo.. the fins look clamp..

Orrh sorry, here's a pic of him flaring. Look at the poor thing, fins in such poor condition. See why I had to save him?? Hope his fins grow back soon.. will it take long? Can I give him any medicine to help him recover?

It is a halfmoon with bad finnage. Fins probably torn badly before, will not grow back to its full beauty, seems like the fins have already been healed

the dark edges on the fins and tail are signs of fin rot..
