Just found that 1 of my Amano shrimp got pregnant. Probably 1st time pregnant as when I bought it few months back, it was only 3-4cm. I thinking of breeding thought the rate of success is quite low. I only know they need brackish water to survive. Shifus & Bro/Sis, any tips or information on breeding them? Any input will be welcome. ^_^ Thanks.
XD The eggs remind me of Caviar.

Small is beautiful.
Wow.. Amano shrimp only breed at brackish water. Is your setup in brackish water?? Amano shrimp breeding is in larvae type.
^_^ Many thanks for this informative and helpful link. XD I gotta prepare a maternity tank on the 4-5th week. At first I was thinking of shifting the shrimp to a small tank but I afraid later it will drop the eggs due to new environment stress. I have bad experience when I temporary house my Amanos in 16x8x8cm breeder box. They were like trying to get out of the box and trying their best to find gap to squeeze out even the gap is so tiny. =.=
XD I was surprised too as I thought that they only mate in brackish water. My setup is freshwater, Ph 6.8-7, GH 7, KH0-2. Using 4in1 azoo bio media & some aragonite substrate as filter media. I was thinking if it's the Salvania that I added few days ago. XD Maybe the mummy shrimp decided to breed when she found a house for its babies.

They will breed in normal water... And the eggs will hatch... But brackets water is required for the larvae to develop... I have had many berry in my planted tank...

There's a reason why no one breeds amano shrimp. They live in freshwater, breed in brackish water, the larvae require saltwater to survive plus develop(and then once they become adults/ juveniles, they move back to fresh/brackish water). This means that breeding them in your home is nearly impossible and a lot of trouble.
