the history of AQ

hi all,

i am curious on how AQ got started and who are the founders of AQ. and who are the key admins now?

The core moderator and admin staff were from another forum. Long story short, they parted and form AQ. There were other member and moderator from that forum that break off and form other forum group that have similar interest in the aquatic aspect. It was quite a long time ago actually. Some of the moderator back then are not active now. This is my personal recollection of the event, there were no malice or bad blood involved as far as I recalled. Just that there were different direction to go and the internet were fairly new back then , even Youtube wasnt created yet.

I feel old right now..........

thanks for the reply BFG, certainly interesting. i suppose some discontinued the hobby too.

I don't deny some stopped but some are still in the hobby, but no long active in the online community. Certain times, other things in life take higher priority (Kids/Family/Work).
That doesn't really become a game changer who are the ones running the show.

AQ is a online community of hobbyist helping each other, Just like how some of the mods started... as fellow hobbyist.

AQ was founded in 2001-2002 by a guy named Simon, if I recall correctly. The site started off moderately for a couple of years till it went dormant and almost went extinct due to low traffic.
A major revamp was done and traffic picked up again.

Didnt realise that I've joined AQ for 14yrs! Anyone else joined AQ around 2002?
