    Hi Bros as above.

Would appreciate if anyone could give me some suggestion on LED lighting for my tank which is 60cm x 60cm x 45cm(height).

Currently looking at Maxspect razer with wide lens as my width is 60cm and also looking at probably 2 sets of Nana LED.

But would definitely love if bro here can chimp in more for me to decide before committing.

    Thanks!

For your tank height, i would say go for the MaxSpect Razor... you just need that one light set (no need for additional sets of Nana LED). The MaxSpect Razor will be blasting more than enough light for your tank, you may need to adjust and reduce the overall intensity according to your plant growth rate too.

Maxspect Razor 120w? Wow.. I am using VG602- 54w, it is super bright and i can see my tank starting to grow some algae. Previously my tank is quite stable, no much algae.

Yeah looks like it's going to be razor based on my tank height and width. Sadly is I already got razor 120w 16k but not suitable for planted.

I believe he's talking about the VG series distributed by East Ocean. Here you go: http://www.eastoceansg.com/vg-zy601-...nt-p-1808.html

This is a 601 version though, I don't know whether they have the 602 version, best to call to ask and Lawrence will clear your doubts.

My studio mate uses it, it has a slight yellowish tinge and like the Chihiros, can get hot-to-touch because of intensity, but overall a good light.

Yes i brought from East Ocean. Strangely i don't feel it is slight yellowish. To me it seem like more of purplish colour.
Oh yeah, it is very hot, that is why the top parts seem like a heatsink, it will be good if the supplier can install a fan.

Do note that while LED lightsets like the VG series are good for standard size 2ft tanks, they use 0.5W LEDs and are more suitable for those tanks up to 30-36cm height.

For a 2ft tank with 45cm height, it is better to go for LED lightsets which use higher watt LEDs (ie. 3W) to get improved depth penetration, so that the plants lower on the substrate can get sufficient light.

That being said, lightsets which use lower wattage LEDs can still be used in taller tanks, it all just depends on the tank setup (high-tech vs low-tech), plant types and growth rate (fast vs slow) you plan to achieve.

Hi UA, do you think the VG lightset is good enough for monte carlo? That's the carpet plant that i have chosen for my new setup.

Agree with UA, considering your tank height 45cm. Better to go those high powered 3W per LED.

Monte carlo is relatively easy to grow, so it really depends on your tank setup and growth pace... if its a high-tech tank with Co2 injection and lots of fert dosing, then you have to observe the plant growth speed and see if the light is sufficient, if you notice the plant growth seems to be slow (which means light is the restrictive factor) then just have to upgrade the lights. Its all a matter of trying and seeing the progress.

On the other hand, if its a low-tech tank and your expected plant growth is slower anyways, then less light is more suitable.

You can look at the Up Aqua Z-Series Z-20... more than sufficient light for those moss and other plants.

The Green Element series can be suitable (depending on the model), i used them before too... just that their casing design tend to be alot bulkier than the Up Aqua ones.
