I'll give an update in the next few days for the effect. I'm going to continue overdosing it with 3 cups everyday.
Hi Guys,
Just want to share my personal experience using this Flourish Excel. I been reading that this product can kill BBA and i didn't believe on it. I decided to go to NA to get some SAE and ask the guy and he suggested to use this product but i hesitate.
I browse to some forum to look does it really works and became curious. So in the end I did purchase one of it and dosed it on my tank.
It just happen I'm flying overseas last Thursday that the only thing i can do was to do a water change 40% and overdosed it by putting 4 cups of it. (5ml/cup). First hours i saw one of my cardinal grasping air to the top. But the weird thing was its only one cardinal. So i ignore it and then after 1 hour, i saw the cardinal on the floor. So it jumps. But all are other fish are ok. My zebra oto, normal oto, 10 rcs, 5 amber, 5 glo tetra, 4 cardinal and 2 SAE. All of them are ok. I left to oversea for 3 days and when i came back i was suprised most of the BBA turn pink. ( i didn't do any dosing) So its mean its really work. Overdosing with the proper amount of Flourish excel kill BBA. And plus factor, all my plants are doing great.
See pictures below how the BBA look with one time overdosing. What will happen if its consistent everyday overdosing.

sounds like an expensive method![]()
Do you think its better to take the plant out separately? I am also having the stubborn BBA issue Excel might be my option to try it..
If your bba is only affecting certain spots, do spot treatment instead. Use a syringe and spray direct on the bba. More effective and less stress on your fauna. Remember to turn off your filter during the spot treatment so the excel lingers on the bba. More effective.
Cheers,
Joe
Just an update on my Excel Dosing. Please take note that I dosed 4 cups after changing 40% water change. Then 2 cups everyday with my normal CO2 injection using a reactor. My tank size is 60x30x36.
I started dosing Wednesday night, then continue dosing on Saturday onward. Now is the 4th day of my dosing. And it's seems everything are doing fine.
Below is the picture of my current tank and like what i have promise the update pictures.

Currently i didn't do any spot dosing. I just apply it like a normal liquid fertilizer.
Will update in the next few days.
When you say 4 cups, do u mean 4 caps ( bottle cap that comes with it)? And do u apply to remaining 40% water in the tank or full tank? Sounds like a great method especially if our plants are already growing well.
After doing 40% water change i dosed 4 cups that come with it. Then this last few days 2 cups with my current co2 injection.
What's the volume of each cup? Keep us posted on progress. Thanks.
Using Excel helps me subdue the algae but boiling the driftwood turns the algae on it pink for me!

Does this make sense: ~Imperfect Past equals future tense~
Each cup should be 5ml
