I just started my first DSM also..I cover my tank with plastic but leave some opening besides my LED flood light. Spray water twice a day to keep it moist.
Interested to know what's the issue also.

Hi all,
I am trying to do a dry start method for monte carlo. I started this on 7 sept, cling wrap it for few days then i started peeling 1 corner for it to exchange some air. Now i started noticing some of them melting away, like some web on it. Why is happening?
Im using a UPS Pro Led Light T-series. i tried using a Kenis PL-60cm (Volt:AC240v~50Hz/ power: 55W) for 2 days. could the Heat from the kenis light cause the plant to melt? or
Did i add too much water?
Should i remove them immediately?
Is there any way to save it or prevent other getting affected?

I tried DSM for the second time. So far they are spreading well. I have kept the tank slightly flooded until soil level. And lid/top fully covered for higher humidity level. Lights on two T5 tubes.
I think the key is patience, as the plants will first wilt on some parts and later recover with runners spreading.
looks like hair algea?
MC no need dry start, flood the tank straight away without any problem..
it is an easy plant not like HC..
Remove all those affected portion immediately. Some called it spider mites, but one thing for sure, it spread and kills the plants very quickly. It happened to my dsm HC previously, they were growing well and suddenly portion by portion got covered by this white web like thingy and dies off the very same day, it then migrated to the next portion.
Is there any thing that will get rid of them? i removed those that got affected, but there might be some on the soil, would that be a prob? or would flooding the tank helps?
okok thanks i start flooding it then
DSM does not work for MC and melted away just like yours. My MC grow faster when flooded.
The yamato shrimp will eat the white fungus.
any spare Mc for sale at low price? hahaa. 3/4 of mine melted away.
