    Is this sponge shrimplet safe? Will get sucked in still? image.jpg f not, pls advise wat kind to get? I got a berried mama alrdy, need to change better change now lol! Thx in advance

    I think the gaps are still too big and shrimplets will surely get sucked in. Better to get the sponge type, like those used in sponge filter.

    Hi bro, is it the GEX sponge for their HOB filters? I have used one before and a few of my Boraras got trapped in the filter. I believe it is not shrimplet-friendly.

    Those default sponge guards packaged with most hang-on filters have pores that are too large (like the one in your photo), so shrimplets confirm will get sucked into the filter.

    You need to get sponge guards with much denser foam material, closer to the density of sponge filters... but not too dense otherwise the filter flow will get over restricted.

    Check at places like C328, Polyart, Seaview, Y61 etc, they usually have an assortment of suitable denser sponge guards in stock (get the ones which fit your intake pipe).
