My foreground plants not doing pretty well though. Temp is too high? 29-30degrees. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1446030280.893644.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1446030292.679364.jpgImageUploadedByTapatalk1446030306.820051.jpg
    Ferns leafs also became black.
I am using this led Light.ImageUploadedByTapatalk1446030347.023334.jpg

I think you should cut the CO2 if the Algae Bloom Persists. In my case I cut my DIY CO2 when I experienced hair algae in my 200 litre aquarium. Plants are not really affected by the loss of CO2. Chiller makes them grow like Crazy!

Hi Bro Brendan! Temperature needed for plants to grow well varies from plant to plant. Your plants in the foreground look like carpet plants which might need lower temperatures. Lower temperatures also inhibit algae growth which may be causing the Fern leaves to turn black. Must also take into account that although LED light emits less heat, it still counts so temperature might also increase. My 200 litre tank with chiller stays at 26 Degrees Celsius all day long due to chiller. Might want to consider getting one if your budget allows it.

Thanks bro happydanio123. Chiller bill expensive lei.... how much you estimate monthly electrical bill for 3 feet tank X 1.5 feet X 1.5 feet tank? filter flow rate 1520l/hr.... is the led light enuff for the plants?

Yeah..... A bit expensive because it will require a chiller and since weather so hot here, might need to run 24/7 just to keep the temperature low. My dimensions same as yours. 3f by 1.5 by 1.5. I use Hailea Chiller model 150A which was passed down by a friend. Works OK Leh! My flowrate is only 440 LPH using Ehiem 2213 canister.
Since the breadth of your tank is 1.5 feet, you should use two strips of LED instead of one. Dunno if make much difference since I don't know how many lumens your LED light is but using two strips works well in my case because I can distribute the light evenly across the Aquarium. (See pic below to view my aquarium lighting.)

Anyway, amount of light needed for plants to grow well varies but if you dose CO2, be sure to increase the intensity of light and the time the plants are exposed to light in order to balance out the amount of CO2 in the water. If not algae will bloom like crazy!

Here is a video example of how it works:

A good quality algae scraper/razor is still the best and simplest item to use for scraping away algae from tank glass. Just have to roll up your sleeves and start scraping away.

You can also introduce algae eaters like otocinclus (they eat soft green and brown algae) or nerite snails (they eat soft algae and also green spot algae too) to help clean the tank glass too. They may not clear 100% of the algae, but at least can help to minimise it enough to warrant less frequent manual algae scraping. Their effectiveness still depends on the rate of algae growth though.
Will the spinning fan cause some noise or trapped debris entangled as it spin?

I have used this reactor and it requires minimal maintenance if you have it at the output of your filter. The water going through would be considered the "Clean" water and the filter would have trapped most of the debris or larger ones.

think up to individual, alternatively, get a wave maker to distribute the CO2 or put CO2 under the rainbar , that might helps too...
Bro fireblade, just wanna check any c02 bubbles trap in the cannister filter by putting the C02 diffuser under the filter inlet. no sound accumulated due to air in cannister filter?

so far so good... mine is a boyu CD01 once a while everyday there will be a short period where the canister will blow out a lot of bubbles and the noise is just for a while.. other than that it is completely silence..
