have re-scaped my JBJ nano. Main theme is the tiger-lotus which i hv sucessfully done the first time without base fert. Used one JBL 7-balls inserted in the ADA amazonia and with occasional TMG dose.
The lotus when purchased is only a few small leaves [central lower portion in the pic] but now 4~5 big leaves have grown, with quite an amazing rate.


The tank looks more spacious and simplied but nicer than the one before the revamp.

agree with you, Simon. That is what attracted me previously. Just using moss to make it look more natural and harmonious.
But later i find it too cramped and also i want to make the tank darker by exposing more of the black base and also make the overall tone warmer to bring out the blue neon of the cardinals. Another reason was that i had put in the lotus lately and it grows surprisingly good. It grows real big and make the layout unbalanced wrt the moss. But did not wish to shift it to other tanks as worry that will affect its growth.

For the 2nd tank, what's the plant at the back? Looks like crypt balansae? A very nice effort for the rescape. Serene yet interesting, it puts the attention on the cardinals.

For the 1st tank, there is a certain gaudiness, but with a little bit more green at the foreground it would have looked better.

you can make the tank less messy and neat by trimming, and also, by avoiding java moss. There seems to be at the back?

Use xmas or taiwan moss is good, as they grows out neatly. I prefer taiwan moss.

JESUS. The 2nd tank really is simple, but beatifull. That proves how wrong people are when they say that biggest aquariums are always beautifullest ( more beautifull , something like that )

The plant behind looks like Valis to me. Doesn't reflect the crinkled look of C. balansae.

What is the name of the plant on the 2nd aquarium?... Is it "Vesicularia dubyana"?

i think it is valis...it was propagating like crazy in my bigger tanks so i cut out some new 'plantlets' and placed it here.

Jesus, seems that more like the greener pasture...which i hv converted to the 'red' one as shown in the first pic.

I hv used the moss to set up a shrimp tank. Intend to put cherry shrimps in it...Are they easy to keep?...rather expensive!
