    Dear all,

Does anybody know how to rectify a Solenoid valve that cannot shut down after the timer is off? It use to cut off the CO2 immediately after the timer is set off after 8 hrs but now, it seems to be not working. The CO2 keeps regulating for 24 hrs.

    Thanks,
    T S

can the solenoid be removed? removing the solenoid from the valve will help to determine whether the problem is due to the solenoid or the valve.

if, after the solenoid is removed and co2 shuts off, then there is a problem with the solenoid. replace the solenoid.

if co2 does not shut off even with the solenoid removed, then you'll need to replace the valve.

TS, i suggest u bring it back to where u bought it and have it checked by the "professional". if not, can try bringing it to either Bioplast at Boon Keng or NA at Thomson.

i do not have a picture for you.
search the web for a brand called jbj. they have a good illustration of a complete regulator, solenoid valve and needle valve setup.

anyway, the sloenoid is a retangular looking device with an electrical cable connected. there is a hole in the middle of the device. the solenoid is mounted to the valve via the hole and held in place by a nut.

    the solenoid is easily removed.

Could it be your timer spoil instead?
Solenoid is normally de-energise without power = no CO2 supply,
if spoil u should not get any CO2 at all!
Try unplug power supply to solenoid, does CO2 still flow?

    Thanks Thomas and Mike,

My fans, lights and solenoid valve plug are connected to the timer. When they are in operation for 8 hrs per day, the lights and fans will just shut down, except the CO2. Had tried taking out the solenoid valve plug and connect to another plug and it just don't work. Normally, the solenoid will just shut down with a click sound when the power is off.

I think the only solution now is to dismantle the solenoid and do some troubleshooting.

    Thanks anyway, bro!

Mmmmmm........looks like the mechanical side of the solenoid is jammed.
Try knock knock it a bit, u should hear the click sound before re-assembly.....else ooops $$$ going to fly.

a solenoid has no moving parts, just a coil of wire inside. it is an electromagnet. so knocking it will achieve nothing.

the valve has a plunger that will shut/open the valve with the help of the solenoid. if the plunger is jammed, you can try dismantling the valve. if you are not sure of how to do it, bring it to a lfs that know.

Sorrry Bro ....thats wat I meant, the mechanical side(the valve, plunger or watever is called)

    TS
If you take them apart, pay special attention during re-assembly, make sure the seal is seated properly, else CO2 is gonna leak.
A professional help is needed her.

you could try bringing it down to NA for a shot; brought my solenoid there to Mr Chan for repair - he repairs for a fee (think that its 10 for workmanship; parts are a separate issue). Should be able to do it on the spot.
