Hi, I hope someone could advise me on what to do next. Recently I bought a new tank, to restart my aquatic hobby, but seems that I plagued with problems after problems. Neverthless to cut story short, currently my problem is with the Eheim canister filter 2215. I experienced that the canister is dripping at the outlet outflow back to the tank, initially I thought it could be my problem, hence I cut a fresh piece of original eheim hose and re set up. The problem still persist.

I'm pretty sure that it's the outlet there that are leaking, as cover all joints with tissue to isolate the leaking area. I called up the boss of the LFS, he was kind enough to do a one to one exchange.

So the same thing happened again, first I set it up, the leak happens again, did the same thing, take another fresh piece of hose, cut it and make sure that the hose is firmly insert into the outlet and turn the tightening screw. It leaks again, I tried to further tighten the screw, the leak still there.

Any advise what I can do next? I feel like changing to another model, I like eheim as I have used them before, there are extremely reliable, but with this incident it kinda puts me off.

Do you check your interior? It could be overloaded on your bio media or the sponge that affect the flow? New one shouldn't leak.

I use the original media from eheim, maybe a good idea. I will remove all media and let it run and see how it goes.

The hose connecting thingy has cracked, mine 2211 was the same before it totally break off. Get a replacement.

Some of the sets that are sold or replaced could be refurbished sets that may still have the same problems, so you just have to keep exchanging until you get a proper working one. At least with Eheim there is warranty and you can exchange for new sets... other brands not so easy.

How do you insert the hose into that connector thingy?

I think only certain batch got this issue. Now they made in China so I guess the quality control issue compromised!!! Oops. Anyway under warranty can ask to. Exchange.

I push the hose to the tip of the thread, then start tightening the screw. I did a few rounds of turning and feel that it's sufficiently tight then I stopped, for fear of cracking the outlet.

Re: Eheim canister 2215 driving me nuts

I have the same problem Last Time bro. I bought second hand with 9 maths warranty. I tried several times but! Still the same so I leave it and put inside a Ikea white box. Still manageable. It won't leak till flood. In fact I already forgot about it. After a while it will not lead so much. But if you just bought from shop better to settle it as this will be a long term thing. Look out for thread wore or cracked. If you force tight the cap will give way
I think only recent years classic model have this problem.

Re: Eheim canister 2215 driving me nuts

Not sure is it me, or design issue or QC issue. The boss of the LFS checks with the distributor, cos he tries to test on the set i return he got the same result. He said the distributor says I should make sure i push the tube all the way and while turning the screw 'cos he mentioned that the tube might go loose when turning the screw.

So I tighten it one time, and do one more time of tightening with more force. As of last night till now.. so far no leaks. *Touch wood*
