a few questions

I'm looking for potassium carbonate. will ask dr malick one of these days, but meantime, does sodium bicarbonate effectively raise KH? (Or just ph),
as a bicarbonate, do plants consume it as well ( i think it does as a carbon source right).

as well, what else can I use to raise kh without affecting ph?

Yes, sodium bicarbonate does the increment of KH...the pH will rise along with the increase in KH.

Only when the CO2 gets too low will the plants go after bicarbonate as a source for carbon. Not all plants are capable to doing that though..moss is one example.(Tom mention that I think..)

Can't think of any that doesn't raise pH along with the KH...
