Absolutely, any undesirable event should be averted with a little prudence. Well I guess conventional method is still the safest bet. Appreciate the advice.

Yes, I would probably need contacts for both contractor if you know of any. Since there would be a lot more work involved (daily water changing) without the convenience of a central sump, I could use some preinstalled drainage pipes from tanks directly to floor trap. If past experience is anything to go by, I'll probably keep only to a couple of tanks.

There used to be a forum member called Cacatuoides here who does custom tanks, I've seen his old posts around. He used to be linked to Aquatic Dreams (http://www.aquaticdreams.com.sg/), IIRC. I've never used their services and this isn't an endorsement - just throwing out an option for you.

Also, a friend's father-in-law works in stainless steel or something - his arowana tank has a dedicated tap (regular municipal tapwater - his arowana apparently has no problem with that!), and drain as well. I'm sure he can link you up with whoever built his plumbing. You can PM me if you want to get in touch.
