Order this tank long time ago but didn't have the chance to set it up. Finally decided to start this project of setting up a small planted tank.

    Tank dimension: 27in (L) x 18in(W) x 24in (H)

Guess should make the height lower but too late to change so have to go with it.

Initial hard scape for the tank.

    Any comment from the master?

I not master. Depending on the planting, the branches pointing inwards will be covered up by plants over time. Maybe can experiment some of the roots face outwards into empty space in front. The rocks in front divided the tank into 2 too nicely. How about curving out bit more?

    Re: My 2ft Planted Tank

No worries all comment are welcome as I'm still a newbie in planted tank. Try planted tank few time but was not successful. Hope that this time can make it.

I can't do much placement for the DW as it was one big DW. Got this DW some time back so just use back for this tank.

Now is too late for me to change anything as I just pour in the soil yesterday night. So now need to think what plant to add.

    Equipment that will be use for this tank;
Lighting: Maxspect Razor 120W I used this light for my previous marine tank, so hope can use on the planted tank.

    Filter: Sun sun canister filter

    Co2 unit

Still thinking do I need to buy a chiller for this tank or not.

    Plant in my mind
Foreground : Monte Carlo or UG
Planning to add some bucep as well.
The back not so sure yet. Any suggestion?

    Thanks.

Spend so much time to scape the rock at the end pour in the soil almost cover all the rock.

Will try to take some pic of the tank after pour in the soil.

    After adding soil.

Should I add some more rock to the hardscape?

Looking good☺ sure can try adding couple of smaller rocks on soil where u plan to grow carpet plants, near the wood. They will be partly hidden when your carpet runs over them and the scape looks more natural. If you want stem plants like rotala behind, can also consider java ferns midground on wood to hide bottom of the stems.

    Re: My 2ft Planted Tank

Actually you should be adding the soil first, then placing the rocks and wood, then all the nice hardscape wouldn't end up getting covered by the soil... thats the usual order of layout placement.

With the rocks currently being mostly covered, once plants are added in they will cover the rocks even more, so they'll all become hidden.

Since you haven't flooded the tank yet, just remove the rocks and wood, slope and shape the soil, then add back the rocks and wood. Helps showcase more of the rock scape.

    Thanks for the comment.

Seem like I got the process the other way round.

As this DW is very big hence my initial idea is to place the DW first.

Will try to see if I can remove the soil and try to scape again.

    Re: My 2ft Planted Tank

Some update for the tank on Day 17.

Been dosing the ADA brighty K and step 1 since day 1.
Experience some melting on the plant anything I missing here?

Anything question is about water change. For the 1st week I'm doing daily 50% water change. So after that I should do water change one a week?
